Fiege, Worms (Germany)
For the Fieg Group in Greven, SSI Schäfer, as the general contractor for logistics, built the new logistics center NDC for electronic tools, garden tools, and accessories of the Bosch product range for the brands Dremel, Bosch and Skil in Worms.
The objective: economic handling of the entire logistics operations for small-volume national distribution and large-volume international distribution of 20,000 different products for do-it-yourself (DIY) and professional needs.
Real-time, national, and international handling of logistics processes with regard to small parts and large-volume units are special requirements in the DIY sector and therefore represent an extraordinary challenge.
On a base area of 90,000 m², "ant", the logistics software developed by SSI Schäfer which is independent of the operating system, controls the new distribution center.
This concerns the following:
- High bay warehouse
- Material flow
- Order-picking
- Replenishment
- Smooth delivery, registration, storage, and order-picking of more than 65,000 pallets and some 25,000 cartons / boxes
- Splitting up of order-picking areas into product and accessories order-picking, each structured into ABC segments
- Automated consolidation of mixed orders
- Shipping in the form of entire pallets, "Paltainers" or parcels
